The Voweletics Methodology

Voweletics® incorporates the five criteria identified by the National Reading Panel as necessary requirements for an effective, comprehensive reading program.

  1. Phonemic Awareness
  2. Phonics
  3. Vocabulary
  4. Fluency
  5. Comprehension

Voweletics® provides a simple, systematic approach to learning proper pronunciation skills while building vocabulary. The English language has eighteen distinct vowel sounds that must be mastered to read fluently. As the primary grade student learns to read, he or she must decide the correct vowel sounds to use in order to correctly pronounce the word(s) and read fluently. Choosing the correct vowel sounds to use when reading is the most difficult part of reading.

Voweletics® is a vowel based reading development methodology. The revolutionary way in which Voweletics® provides simple rules for learning the different vowel sounds is what makes this program incredibly effective and why many believe will soon become the "new phonetics."

Take, for example, the words, “hen”, “he” and “her.”  All share the same vowel “e” yet require three distinct vowel sounds to pronounce and correctly read. Most children struggle with the concept of deciding which vowel sound to use as they read words in a sentence.  The patent pending  Voweletics® Reading Program uses simple, systematic rules for using correct vowel sounds, transforming  the difficulty of both teaching and learning reading skills into an enjoyable and rewarding experience for both child and educator.

Typical Voweletics Results

Typical Voweletics® test results have shown a marked acceleration in the child's pronunciation skills, reading fluency rate and overall comprehension. Results can be seen in as little as ten weeks!!

Management Team

Jane S. Volden has vast experience in the art of teaching children how to read. Over the past 25 years she has counseled many parents on teaching their own children to read or improving their children's reading skills. She earned a BS degree in Education from the University of Iowa in 1976, with a Certification in Reading, and is considered an expert in the field of primary grade reading development tutorship. The ground breaking principles of the Voweletics® reading program were developed in her classrooms out of the necessity to find a simple, systematic reading development program that gives children the ability to correctly and confidently sound out words based on a variety of vowel sounds. Mrs. Volden has dedicated most of her life and career to children's education. Many believe her award-winning Voweletics® reading program is the next-generation of phonetic instruction.

Letter from the President

I believe primary grade teachers and educators teaching children to read need a simple yet systematic reading program that addresses the most troublesome part of learning to read-- the proper use of 18 distinct vowel sounds in the English language.

Learning to read should be fun. The Voweletics reading method simplifies the rules for vowel sounds and shortens the learning curve for fluent reading. Entertaining characters, music, short stories, poems and fun-filled exercises are all a part of the Voweletics program that make learning to read fun for the child and educator alike.

The dedicated Voweletics staff is proud to offer the Voweletics reading method to educators and students looking for a more efficient and better way to learn to read.

Sincerely,

Jane S. Volden
